Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction in Vizag, Hyderabad & Vijayawada. Return to sport in 6-9 months, expert sports orthopaedic surgeons.
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is one of the four major ligaments of the knee joint, running diagonally to provide rotational stability. ACL tears are among the most common sports-related knee injuries, often occurring during sudden stops, pivoting, jumping, or direction changes. A distinctive 'pop' is often heard at the moment of injury.
SurgiKure performs arthroscopic ACL reconstruction — a minimally invasive procedure through 2-3 tiny keyhole incisions. A graft (taken from the patient's own hamstring or patellar tendon) replaces the torn ligament. Most patients return to recreational sports in 6-9 months and competitive sports in 9-12 months with dedicated rehabilitation.
ACL fibres are stretched but not torn. Knee is stable. Managed with physiotherapy, rest, ice, and a knee brace. Full recovery in 4-6 weeks.
Partial disruption of ACL fibres. May feel unstable under load. Conservative management for low-demand patients; reconstruction for athletes.
Complete tear of the ACL. Knee is functionally unstable. Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction is strongly recommended for active individuals and athletes.
Gold standard for complete ACL tears. Through 2-3 tiny incisions, a tendon graft replaces the torn ACL under camera guidance. Day-care or 1-night stay. Physiotherapy begins the next day. Return to sport in 6-9 months.
Semitendinosus and gracilis tendons are harvested from the patient's own hamstring and prepared as a graft to replace the ACL. Most commonly used graft with excellent strength and low donor site morbidity.
The central third of the patellar tendon with bone plugs is harvested. Very strong graft, preferred for elite and high-demand athletes. Faster ligamentisation than hamstring graft.
For Grade 1-2 injuries or low-demand elderly patients who do not wish for surgery. Physiotherapy, quadriceps strengthening, and a functional knee brace. Not suitable for athletes with instability.
