What Is Breast Lift Surgery?

A breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging or drooping breasts by removing excess skin, tightening surrounding tissue, and repositioning the nipple and areola to a more youthful and forward-facing position. It restores the breast's natural contour and firmness without necessarily changing the overall size.

Breast ptosis (sagging) is a natural result of ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, and gravity. SurgiKure's experienced aesthetic surgeons select the most appropriate mastopexy technique for each patient's degree of ptosis — from a periareolar lift for mild sagging to a full anchor pattern for severe drooping — achieving natural, long-lasting results with well-concealed scars.

Common Symptoms

Breasts that sag or hang significantly lower than desiredNipples and areolas that point downwardNipples that fall below the breast crease when unsupportedLoss of upper breast fullness and volumeSkin stretching and excess skin below the breast foldAsymmetry — one breast sitting noticeably lower than the otherReduced self-confidence due to breast appearance after pregnancy or weight loss

Types & Grades

Grade I — Mild Ptosis

Nipple at or just below the breast crease. A periareolar (donut) or crescent lift is sufficient. Minimal scarring, excellent results for mild sagging.

Grade II — Moderate Ptosis

Nipple 1-3 cm below the breast crease. A vertical (lollipop) lift technique provides excellent reshaping with a manageable scar.

Grade III — Severe Ptosis

Nipple more than 3 cm below the breast crease with significant skin excess. A full anchor (Wise pattern) lift is required for maximal tissue removal and reshaping.

Breast Lift Technique Options

1

Anchor / Wise Pattern Mastopexy

Incisions around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and along the breast crease. Allows the greatest degree of reshaping and tissue removal. Used for Grade III (severe) ptosis.

2

Vertical (Lollipop) Mastopexy

Incisions around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease only. Excellent reshaping with a smaller scar footprint than the anchor pattern. Best for Grade II ptosis.

3

Periareolar (Donut) Mastopexy

A single circular incision around the areola only. Minimal scarring. Suitable for Grade I ptosis. Can simultaneously reduce areola size. Often combined with a small implant for added volume.

4

Mastopexy with Augmentation

A breast lift combined with silicone or cohesive gel implants for patients who want both uplifting and increased volume. Both procedures performed in a single operation for combined reshaping and augmentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the results of breast lift permanent?
Results are long-lasting but not permanent. Continued ageing, gravity, and future pregnancy can cause further changes. Maintaining a stable weight significantly prolongs the results.
Will there be visible scars after mastopexy?
All mastopexy techniques leave some scarring. However, scars are placed along natural skin creases and the areolar border where they are well-concealed. Scars fade significantly over 12-18 months.
Can I breastfeed after a breast lift?
In most cases, yes — SurgiKure's surgeons use techniques that preserve milk ducts and nipple sensation. If breastfeeding is important to you, discuss this during your consultation.
Is breast lift surgery confidential?
Absolutely. SurgiKure maintains strict patient privacy. All consultations and procedures are handled with complete discretion and confidentiality.
